La 89na entrega anual de los Premios de la Academia se llevó a cabo el domingo 26 de febrero en el Dolby Theater bajo la conducción de Jimmy Kimmel.
Al final de la noche, los actores Warren Beaty y Faye Dunayay habían anunciado a La La Land como película ganadora cuando en realidad había sido la cinta Moonlight la seleccionada.
